I have had some serious problems listening to this release. It’s a given fact that I’m not much of a progressive metal fan, but Revoltons pretty much horrify me. The band name somehow awakens feelings of an anarchy punk band gone metal but truly the opposite is the case. This is stand in line Dream Theater wannabe metal and it’s also a given fact I’m not much of a fan of Dream Theater’s current music. All in all a pretty bad start for a review I might say.

Night Visions opens with a redundant intro but let’s forget about that. The second track “Cell Of Death” starts pretty decent, nothing ground breaking, just a decent riff with some background keyboards. Unfortunately everything goes wrong when singer Andro opens his mouth. The very own sound of his voice is repellent, he simply can’t sing. On top of that, his voice has an annoying touch to it and to top things really off, he also has a terrible Italian accent. Somewhere around the second minute of “Cell Of Death” I am convinced this is just another Dream Theater wannabe band.

The bridge in “Cell Of Death” could come straight of a Dream Theater album, and the subsequent keyboard and guitar solos confirm my believe even more.

Once in a while Revoltons manages to grab my attention and even singer Andro sounds ok at times. Although those times are few and far between (“Hands Of Magellano” for example). Certain keyboard melodies are good and show promise but it’s not nearly enough to convince me. This band has to work on their image as well as their songwriting, and if they ever want to make it they need to replace their singer because I’m afraid that many a person will wince once he opens his mouth.

2004 started with some great releases, but this isn’t one of them. Luckily, after checking the biography, I noticed that the CD is already released in 2003 and I just received it late. Good, 2004 still holds its magic. My advice: Forget about this release.
