Listening to Pé Lemme’s debut album “Bullshit” was quite a surprise. This Dutch rock trio combines rock music with vocals that are close to Doemaar or even rap. The band even made the decision to sing their native Dutch language. That the lyrics are important to Pé Lemme is quite obvious. The music on the album has more of a supporting role and is based on the vocal melodies. Although some of the vocals are rather rough edged this approach works out very well for most of the tracks. One of the tracks where the approach fails is “Samen Sterk”. | |
These are for one not the strongest lyrics on the album and the musical part is too boring to compensate. The songs fall or stand with the lyrics. This is one of the reasons why I have some doubt whether this album will be interesting to our foreign readers. In conclusion a nice album which is clearly something different from usual. The only thing I don’t understand is why a band with such an original name comes up with this horrible album cover. (Geert) |
