Festina lente is a new band coming from Voerendaal (never heard of that place), the Netherlands and exists of 4 young guys (well young, about the same age as I am). After releasing a demo and a single they thought it was time to record a new EP. Gail Liebling signed for the production and that was a good choice. I know Gail from his band Gail of God wich was an industrial band with references to Marilyn Manson, but the production of his debut album was not as evident as this one is. A good production is quite important these days, where every band from every little coffeeshop in every little town produces a demo. Your product has to be good, and I can only compliment Festina Lente for that, cause the artwork is pretty cool too. Then the music. Festina Lente is melancholic, dynamic and also catchy. The comparisons with System of A down, Primus, Dreadlock Pussy , One Minute Silence and Powerman 5000 are justified.

The dynamics are the strength of the band. Like in the first song, a sort of cross between Faith no more and Powerman 5000, with a catchy chorus and some funky passages. And when you think ‘ok’, they turn it around with the second song. Some raps that would not be innapropriate on a One Minute Silence cd. And if you miss Celestial Season, ‘avalon’ will give you something back of that Celestial feeling. This band also reminds me of the relatively unknown band Neurobox, `cause of the sometimes funny parts in the music. The past 2.5 years have been kind for Festina Lente. The result of all the rehearsels is this cd. A band with potential. I advice you to support Dutch bands and buy this EP. There are some strong dutch bands around now, and this is one of them.
