Gluecifer is a band that developed strongly the last couple of years. They started out with straight-ahead, simple guitar rock, with the right attitude and a fine nose for high quality within the genre. Besides the more commercial approach, the former album “Basement Apes” was an exploring trip into more variation, depth and experiment. The latest release “Automatic Thrill” continues on this road, but this time all the pieces have fallen together: songs perfectly fitting within the Gluecifer concept, with a powerful production reminding of “Tender Is The Savage”, and youthful enthusiasm from their early work. | |
The band has evolved in song writing as well as in performance. Some splendid (walking) bass lines, giving the other instruments room to add to the songs, and vocal lines which do not always search for the easy way. From hypnotic rhythms, wave based (reminds me of The Cult) stuff, to almost bombastic, psychedelic and kick ass rock & roll: this CD`s got it all. A very, very fine album!
