Bridge to solace is ex-newborn. I don’t know any music from Newborn, so you can consider this trivial knowledge. You want more facts? This is a Hungarian band. Name 3 other hungarian bands? Indeed, better luck next time.

Bridge to Solace produces positive and melodic hardcore with a sharp edge. The first comparitive bands that come to mind are Razor Crusade, Stretch Arm Strong and Snapcase and after a couple of spins, you can add AFI, Hope Conspiracy and Paint The Town Red to the list.

The cool thing about Bridge to Solace is the variety in their music. From screams that would be appropriate on a Snapcase album to some spun out song lines. The malicious divider in the music of Bridge to Solace is the melody. Good melodies form the foundation for every song.

On eight of the nine songs there is some spoken word in the songs. It is a cool idea to add spoken word to hardcore (it adds to the intelligence level;)), but it takes out the speed this music needs.

You don’t want to hear some guy puking out semi-intelligent words after an explosive hardcore song. You want the next song to break the bones of your friend, cause you were busy trashing the room and him with it.

The more I listen to this cd, the better it becomes. It’s really a cool modern hardcore record that can match with the better bands in the genre. Sometimes it reminds me also of a lighter version of Vision of Disorder and of a more louder version of Thrice. `Behind your words of righteousness’ is a fine example of this and is more than a great song. Add the the fact that the artwork is Cool with a capital C.

I give them 80 points, they’d got 85 if there weren’t so many spoken word parts on this CD. Advice: Buy (if you do, at least you can say you’ve got something from hungarian people in your collection).
