After hearing the name Bathtub Shitter and the album title Lifetime Shitlist, the preconception that we’re dealing with a normal band is immediately gone. And indeed, Bathtub Shitter sounds as weird as the name suggests. The sound can be described as grindcore but the emphasis lies on punk. Short simple songs with short simple riffs, a drummer who is not exactly virtuous and a singer who has clearly gone out of his mind. He utilizes the all too familiar guttural grunt, commonly found among grindcore and a not so common hysterical housewife voice. It sounds like a middle-aged transsexual whose silicone tits are put on fire and he/she’s trying to extinguish the flames with his/her wig. That’s the sound I mean.

The 14 tracks on Lifetime Shitlist are gathered from various recording sessions but they all sound like they were recorded in one take.

The music isn’t that spectacular at all but it has his moments. The hyper fast outbursts accompied with the squeaking voice of singer Massato create an absurd comical sound. The lyrics, as you probably guessed all deal with faeces and the different ways you can amuse yourself with it. I had a laugh when reading the lyrics because the words are in English but most sentences don’t make any sense. In that same category we can file their website. Absolute hilarious en undecipherable English, so if you want to have a good laugh, visit their website on baththubshitter.com

Bathtub Shitter is not to be taking serious and in that light Lifetime Shitlist is a lot of fun but if you want your grindcore original and well played, look somewhere else.
