Now this is what I call a soundtrack! Goddamn what an wide range of quality on this cd, a soundtrack for the remake of the cult classic ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. Usually I don’t like remakes, so I still haven’t seen the movie, but if this music represents the quality of this movie, I have to watch it.
I hear you thinking ‘you stupid dumb rockezine fuck, cut the crap, cut to the chase, why is this soundtrack so fucking good?’. Ok you bunch of fruits, this is why:
Meshuggah (L), Lamb of God, Motograter, Shadows Fall, Pantera, Hatebreed, Morbid Angel and Sworn Enemy. Brutal yet still listenable shit.
To create some dynamics in this cd, they also asked 40 below summer, Finger Eleven, Seether and Motograter to this cd. Motograter was the unknown band on this cd, for me. Now I have their cd and it’s great, go get it, a mix of Tool and Nu-Metal.
The first song is also something special, Pantera delivers us ‘Immortally Insane’ which also stood on the ‘heavy metal 2000’ CD, but still gives me the feeling ‘why did this classband quit’. | |
A disappointment for me was the Static-X track. I have not heard their last album, but it’s sounding more Korn and Korn to me. Nothingface also contributed a track, ‘Down in Flames’ but that does not reach the quality of the ‘Skeletons’ songs.
Lamb of God proves with ‘Ruin’ the hype is right about them. A band for the future, while old-timers Morbid Angel maybe gain some new fans with this CD. ‘Enshrined by Grace’ is some quality. The same goes for Fear Factory that gives us a remix of ‘Archetype’, a new song. Although it`s a remix, it still sounds like a brutal Pitchshifter song.
I can go on, reviewing each band, but won’t do that. I do not rate various artists albums, so I won’t rate this one, but it’s one soundtrack that’s finally worth buying
