Finally, the new Devin Townsend album is here. Eagerly anticipated by the fans, this album promises to be the next chapter in the unique musical experience that is called Devin Townsend.

On ‘Terria’, Devin once again invites us into his mental and emotional world, expressing and sharing his feelings, and thereby touching our own. It is not possible to listen to his music without feeling anything at all; it’s so overwhelming , you can do nothing but surrender to it and let it engulf you. The songs are not full off ‘juvenal’ anger this time around, but rather filled with feelings of sadness, loneliness, regret and similar more ‘mature’ themes. This makes for songs that can touch you right at the center of your heart (if you let them, of course).

On a more technical level, Devin has yet again recorded a superb album. Both production wise and sound wise it sounds perfect, crystal clear. The compositions are once again very crisp, flowing in directions you’d never expect, but still fit inside the song structure. Much more melodic than his Strapping Young Lad project or Physicist, and at times even freakier than Infinity, but at the same time much more tranquil as well.

In the end, Devin gave the best description himself during the interview I had with him a couple of months ago: “If ‘Infinity’ is a man, and that man would step on a landmine, then ‘Terria’ would be the sound of the pieces falling to the ground after the explosion..”

Simply incredible!
