Thought-Tormented Minds is the debut album of Italian atmospheric rock band Greyswan. The first impression I got from the album is very good. The great cover, the rather original album title and a nice booklet, all looked very promising. After the first couple of tracks it became clear that the music of the album is also well worth listening to. A reference like Anathema seems pretty obvious, but Greyswan might be concidered to be just a little bit more edgy without backing down on strong melodies and flowing rhythms. | |
In this way Thought-Tormented Minds might be concidered better balanced than for example A Natural Disaster by Anathema. Allthought I like the vocals of Oscar, they could have been a bit more present in the mix and a little more alternation would have been nice. The same goes more or less for some of the rhythm guitar parts. I have to distract some points in the rating for that. Nevertheless, Thought-Tormented Minds is a fine debut album and a real effort for heavy atmospheric rock fans. (Geert) |
