Zeke is dead, long live Camarosmith. Well, that’s not entirely true but with Donny Paycheck on drums and Jeff Matz on bass, there’s quite a bit of Zeke history present in Camarosmith. Musically this band sure knows how to rock the old fashioned way. This loudmouth seventies type rock with definitely some stoner and grunge influences feels so damn comfortable it’s almost annoying. From the first notes of “It’s Allright” till the last tones of “Running Free” this (produced by Jack Endino) rousing rock knocked me off my feet.

Hard to place Camarosmith, cause it’s not all typical seventies rock. Check out “Corrupt” and “Time Around” which could easily be on Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger.

There’s even a hint of My Sisters Machine here. Hell, they’re from that same rainy part of the world so it shouldn’t be a complete surprise. Singer Ben Rew has that top of the lungs thing goin’ on just like Chris Cornell. But don’t expect another Soundgarden clone here. Camarosmith is much more about rock. Besides, this type of music is so not hip it will enduce quite the amounts of foam on any MTV lip out there. I can only hope this band will make a stopover in Europe coming summer. Pick a small venue, grab a cool beer, make the sweat, should be a good thing. Check out www.camarosmith.com for more information.
