Ten years ago we would have called Hate Anthems, Obituary’s mediocre follow up to Cause Of Death. We probably would have felt that the band couldn’t reach the standard they set with Slowly We Rot and after one last tour we kinda figured they would break up.

End Of Days’s Hate Anthems breaths that same vibe Cause Of Death did so many years ago. We call it metalcore now, but the ingredients are the same. Big guitars, double bass drumming, grunts (be it that singer Kevin uses a very pecular tone) with two exceptions. Lyrics and quality. End Of Days clearly know the trick and both extreme hardcore fans and death metal fans will be pleased with six fucking loud and aggressive songs.

A little bland for my taste, but damn, these guitars sure sound like hell. But in order to leave a truly unforgetable impression you need riffs that stick like lama spit. End Of Days’ riffs hardly stick, at least not longer than the the song lasts.

Fortunately there’s enough variation on Hate Anthems and the band’s rhythm work keeps everything on track nicely. Making Hate Anthems worth your while but it`s just not impressive. And check the price they charge you. With only 22 minutes of playing time you don’t get spoiled.
