Some bands just don’t have much luck when it comes to breaking through to the audience. The Dutch band Transpunk is one of those critically acclaimed, but virtually unknown examples. Winning numerous prestigious awards and playing just about every major festival in Holland, as well as a lot of club gigs, they’re still not widely known as one might expect.

However, the band recently recorded a live session for the Dutch radio show Club Lek, and as a favor to the fans, and for all the curious people as well, they decided to release the recordings on an album, together with some CD-Rom material.

The album contains the seven songs they played that night, and this material is a nice overview of what this band is capable of. Their music is not easy to describe, but sounds a bit like post-grunge rock-punk… very fresh. The production is a bit fuzzy, but captures the feeling of performing live. The multimedia part is a bit scanty, but probably interesting for the fans.

All in all, ‘Live @ Club Lek’ serves as a nice introduction to the band, hopefully drawing them a little more into the spotlight.
