I’m pretty extensible but with the overkill of Poison The Well and Shai Hulud clones that battered my cd-player the last couple of months, I have finally reached my limit. Never Race With Time of Saving Throw just reached my player too late I guess, cause just like so many emo metalcore type bands, it is not so much the quality of musicianship or even the quality of song writing that muffles my interest. It’s the sheer number of ‘albums that are just not up to par’, that can’t break the mold that makes me lose interest more and more.
Like any style of music, this type of emo will, in the end, bleed out, leaving a lot of carcasses and only a few survivors. | |
Saving Throw will not be among the latter. Their sound is pretty polished with drums that sound as if they are recorded miles away from the rest. The vocals become irritating after a while: completely void of variation, therefore Saving Throw lack to express enough emotion on the emo-scale. A second singer or at least more diversity would surely help the band in expressing more emotions than they do right now. With Never Race With Time they will not stand out of the crowd. (Marc) |
