The Netherlands have several good gothic metal bands. Morning from Susteren (the Netherlands) is one of them. It is a very young band with members between the ages of 16 and 27. “Inside” begins with the song “Inside”. The song starts really quiet with some synthesisers and singer Saskia van Heugden`s voice. And what a great voice she has. In the middle of the song, there is a short interlude with cool church sounds that really fit in the music.
The next song, “When Shadows Dance In The Light”, has some church singing in the beginning. This is a really good song. The interlude in the middle sticks in your mind and comes back after a while. | |
The fourth song “Kill the Silence” surprises me. It starts different from all the other songs; a simple guitar and some gothic sounds, after which a second guitar comes in play. Somewhere at the end of the middle part there`s some drums that give you a great festival feeling when you hear it. The last song on the album is “Stop Drawing”. Quite similar to the other songs.
Morning has released a good album. Let’s hope that in the future they can make some more good albums like `Inside`. (Jeroen) |
