One of the questions most bands face when they’re writing a new album concerns the supposed opening track. Listening to “From This Day On”, I can imagine that Mister Kite had no trouble picking the opening track on “Box Of Fear”. A majestic bass line sets the mood and the track gently flows into very powerful melodic rock. What a way to open your second album!
With the track “Evil Bob” these Swedes prove that they know the art of combining delicate choruses with strong refrains. Singer Alf Wemmenlind is as comfortable with the aggressive as well as the more peaceful parts of the song. | |
There are some weaker points on the album. A couple of guitar riffs seem to be particularly favorite and some of the tracks sound a little bit messy. This is a shame because there are a several really good songs on “Box Of Fear”. I know this sounds strange, but the uneven tracks are absolute favorites while the even tracks are the weaker ones.
“Box Of Fear” is a fine album and shows that Mister Kite have potential as well as passion. If you have the chance you should check these guys out. The songs on the album will be killer when performed on stage. (Geert) |
