Assembled from the remains of two other bands (“Mingle” and “In Memory Of”) A Traitor Like Judas began its existence under the moniker Parker Frisbee. The band has been active since December 2000, released a mini-cd on Erdkampf Records in 2001 and Too Desperate To Breathe In is their debut full length. TDTBI has been released by Winter Recordings and according to the band they already left this label and inked a deal with Let It Burn Records.

A Traitor Like Judas play melodic death metal in the Gothenburg vein but with additional influences from metalcore. It should appeal to fans of both genres because the compositions are quite good. At first, I had some trouble keeping attention to the album because of the not so perfect production.

It all sounds a bit dusty and unfinished but when you get used to it TDTBI turns out to be a decent release after all.

If I had to compare Traitor with another band, I would say they sound a bit like As I Lay Dying. They also operate on the edge of metalcore and death metal but in all honesty I must say I’m not familiar with this genre so I could be wrong. Both bands play smart compositions with a lot of melody but with enough aggression to keep it interesting. There’s not much left to say so check them out if you are a metalcore/Gothenburg fan.
