The complete title of this massive two cd compilation is Platters Of Splatter: A Cyclopedic Symposium Of Execrable Errata And Abhorrent Apocrypha 1992-2002 and that about says it all. On this double cd you’ll find nearly every track that isn’t released on the three regular releases; demo-tracks, split-cd tracks, bonus tracks and covers. You name it, it’s on this album. The only tracks that aren’t included are those from the Cadaveric Platter Splatter demo, the Goregasm 7 inch and the Deterioration Of The Senses split-tape with Spanish grindcore masters Haemorrhage, but that’s about it.

So, you get an almost complete overview of Exhumed’ decade spanning career, and I must say that I find this release a damn fine one. The grindcore/deathmetal Exhumed plays is easy to swallow if you’re into this kind of music. The tracks aren’t overly virtuous or chaotic, they’re just plain good.

The sound is (as to be expected) a bit sloppy sometimes and beneath normal standards but always acceptable if you keep in mind that many of these tracks are demo tracks. Some highlights are “Death Metal” and “No Presents For Christmas” (a hilarious ‘alternative’ Christmas carol). Especially the first disc contains many great songs. The second disc is the weaker one of the two as it contains older material, on which they weren’t as good as nowadays. However, still worthy to be included in this package

According to the press sheet, this release should appeal to fans of Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death and Nasum; I think this is for lovers of death metal and grindcore in general and you should purchase Platters Of Splatter as soon as possible.
