I didn’t expect this band to be from New York City. A city where fast hardcore and metal rules with the likes of Pro-Pain, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, Sheer Terror, Madball etc. This is the birthplace of Ronin. A 4-piece band with strange band member names like Ranger X, Ninja Boy, Mr.Sapp and Captain T. Names that without a doubt should do great in the gay scene.

The music however, is everything but gayish. A fusion of stoner rock, post rock and grunge is what you get. In “Take The Sky” the band lets us feel why we need bands like Medication (RIP).

“Portal” opens with a Mogway sounding opening riff, but as soon as female vocals enter, along with a Matthew Bellamy clone, the song cruises to the stoner rock section.

At times the album reminds me of the work Abdullah produces, however more spacey and more ‘postrock’. The sound of the album is loungy, in a ‘Fu Manchu driving through their favourite desert with some jazz tunes on the radio and sand blowing in their face’ kinda way. This is definitely for fans of Medication, 7Zuma7 and Nebula.
