I thought I heard of this band, but I haven’t. So for the ones who have the same problem as me, let me give you a short biography.
JORN is a solo-project of the highly rated vocalist Jorn Lande (Masterplan, ARK, The Snakes). Jorn is for some 10 to 15 years in the music business now, so sorry for the JORN-fans who read this; my apologies. But the band JORN has already released 2 albums (Starfire and Worldchanger) too! I look like an amateur.
Jorn just signed for AFM records and released this album: Out To Every Nation. This time he ensnared Ronny Tegnar (keyboards), Pagan’s Mind pair Jørn Viggo Lofstad (guitar) and Stian Kristoffersen (drums), and last but certainly not least Hammerfalls Magnus Rosèn (bass). JORNs new line-up is born.
In the biography, which comes with this CD, there’s a lot of publicity for Jorn himself. I can assure you, that’s so terribly righteous! This man is blessed with a voice, you can’t even imagine. | |
Definitely one of the best classic rock singers ever. But don’t make the mistake to forget the rest of the band, because the guitarist, for example, sure knows how to use his guitar (listen to the short but stunning solo on “Vision Eyes”).
The problem is, classic rock just isn’t my style. So if you think the 7 is way too low for this album, you know the reason. Technically, this album is great. I already gave the examples of Jorn and the guitarist, but nobody on this album plays like a 14-year-old. A tour de force. A little disadvantage: the lyrics are just dull and too straightforward (“Rock Spirit”).
There are some questions I’m wondering though. Where is their website? Is he singing about the president on “Behind The Clown”? And so on. But never mind. You like classic rock? You like this.
Best songs: “Young Forever”, “Out To Every Nation” and “Vision Eyes”. (Gijs) |
