I must admit that there’s not a single Jimi Hendrix album in my CD collection; that is, until now. Listening to this Hendrix tribute album makes me blush of shame. All songs are great; whether they are performed by Santana, John Lee Hooker or George Clinton. The broad range of artists and all the different styles on the album are both proof of the influence Hendrix has had in his short career and make apparent why this guitarist is still hot. He knows how to combine rock ‘n roll, plain rock and rhythm & blues, and make it all seem deceptively simple.

This compilation differs from previous tribute albums in that Power Of Soul is mainly focused on the soul side of Hendrix. The only small point of criticism I could think of is the amateur album cover. Don’t be fooled by it though, the quality of the artists and the sound are beyond any doubt. Power Of Soul is one of the best tribute albums I’ve ever heard and will be released by Inspire Music.
