It took Thorn.Eleven more than three years to release the follow up for their well acclaimed self titled debut album. A Different View has become a well balanced album. It starts with a couple of very powerful rock songs, ranging from grunge to more melodic songs and of course popular (think Nickelback or The Rasmus). Just at the moment that the tracks begin to sound a little bit too much alike (a negative characteristic of the above mentioned bands), Thorn.Eleven surprises with a couple of pretty intense songs. “Maze” for example is simply incredible. Soft and delicate acoustic guitars and very emotional vocals.

I know that this has been done before, but the way David Backer manages to move the listener makes this song very special.

A couple of weeks ago I was very impressed by a live performance of Superfly 69 from Germany. Thorn.Eleven is the second German band in a short period that convinces me to listen more to German music. As many, I was a little bit biased towards German bands in the past, but Thorn.Eleven among others, prove me wrong. With the proper promotion A Different View could be a hit; the music isn’t highly original but it will sure be appealing to a lot of people.
