Formed in the winter of 1992 – 93 it took Tidfall 8 years before their debut “Circular Supremacy” saw the unlight. In the meantime Tidfall released two demos. And now their second release “Instinct Gate”. The release starts of with a industrial house beat, and I immediately got a strange feeling. But after a few seconds the mayhem turns lose. Tidfall plays rather extreme up tempo death metal with keyboards grunts and screams. A bit like a combination between old Dimmu Borgir and a little bit of Satyricon and Immortal. | |
Songs as “The Empire of the Pleasures of Flesh” and “Mind Raper” certainly show that Tidfall has their own sound. Perhaps also because of the fact that the keyboards aren’t to dominant. Most of the songs are very extreme but they also slow down to more mid tempo parts so now and then. Vocally Sorg sounds as a combination between Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir) and Ares (Aeturnus). The musicians know how to play their instruments and the production is clear. A fine black metal release. (Teun) |
