Summer’s coming, so grab a few cool beers, and let Alternative Allstars steam it up: party time! (That is, for the not too critical listener.) These guys have listened to some success formulas very well. From Green Day and Supergrass, to (B)Ryan Adams, party punk to bubblegum rock: simple but effective. Catchy tunes done by the book. During every song you think “where have I heard this before”? So don’t expect any originality.

Downside: the keyboards.

With one foot in psychedelic space-rock, and one in disco, it’s confusion all around. As for the rest: straight forward rock & roll. All recorded at their home studio, using almost antique instruments and studio gear. Still, with all these possibilities and no real studio stress, I would expect some more experiments and enthusiasm. This CD often sounds like the songs are played on automatic pilot. Makes you wonder why it took two years to record this CD.
