The man behind Vision Divine is no one less than Olaf Thörsen, the former guitarist and mastermind of Labyrinth. Vision Divine, which started as a solo project, has turned into a full fletched band since Olaf has left Labyrinth to squelch those who kept insisting that Vision Divine was nothing more than a side project. Unfortunately, during the writing process of Stream Of Consciousness renowned singer Fabio Lione (now Rhapsody) decided to leave the band. Michele Luppi, a highly talented young singer, was recruited and he does a great job, although he doesn’t quite reach the same level as Fabio.

I must admit that this is my first run in with Vision Divine and although it all sounds pretty professional, they can’t really convince me.

It’s very difficult to really get into the music, and not one single song manages to stick in my head. Even though the melodies are good, the music as a whole is lacking something. Something I can’t really put my finger on. Maybe it’s because the whole album sounds terribly held back, or maybe it’s because I’ve simply grown jaded from listening to all these progressive/melodic power metal releases.

Stream Of Consciousness is an album that I can advice to people who dig melodic power metal, because it certainly won’t disappoint you. However, if you are not really a fan of this kind of music Vision Divine won’t make you one either. A decent release with a good production, but certainly nothing special.
