If we would do a calculation of bands out there who profusely slobber from the Tool-well, we would probably crash computers. On the other hand one can take the Tool sound into many different directions. Like Waik does. These young Australians pick up the right atmosphere, add convincing dynamic vocals and juice it up with enough melody to keep you interested for the full 22 minutes this MCD takes.

With a decent production, doing justice to all instruments and vocals, Waik deliver a professional set of tracks.

What they shouldn’t do is add those childish Korn elements. They don’t need it and it definitely bruises the maturity of the rest of the material on Contrast. If this band focuses on exploring different atmospheres, contrasting emotions and layers in sound, I have no doubt they will be a band to watch out for.
