That Killjoy (Necrophagia, Ravenous) is a busy man needs no further introduction. Right now he got involved in the new black death metal project called Wurdulak. Wurdulak was formed in 2000 by Killjoy and Frediablo (Gorelord) and their main goal was to combine death thrash of bands as Bathory, Slayer and Celtic Frost with black metal like Immortal and Darkthrone. But Wurdulak sounds more like a mid-tempo death thrash band influenced by above called bands. Only the vocals of Maniac (Mayhem) and some up-tempo eruptions (“Ceremony in Flames”) give their music a black metal injection. | |
The total release sounds pretty all right. The fat riffs and double bass drum parts are easy to consume and reminded me of the music we listened to in the early nineties. This release isn’t about being original. Wurdulak shows their passion for past times. If you are also longing back to those great days “Ceremony in Flames” might be something for you. (Teun) |
