If your vocals sound like early Peter Gabriel, you’ve got two possibilities; start an early Genesis cover band or write original music in the vain of the aforementioned band. Shaun Guerin did both. He started out as the vocalist and drummer of the cover band Cinema Show but left this band to write his own music. The big danger of writing music in the vain of your favorite band is writing cliche’s. Guerin seems to be well aware of this danger.

The music on “The Epic Quality Of Life” sounds exactly like early Genesis, but is in itself original. The atmosphere and power of the songs are equal to the songs on “Trespass” or “Lambs”. The way he avoided cliche proves his genius. It’s a sad thing that Guerin died little after the recording of the album. He did however leave us a great album to remember him by.
