Silent Faces is the second album of this quintet from Greece; a band hailed as the country’s most promising metal band. After a couple of spins of this disc I came to the conclusion that either there aren’t that many promising metal bands in Greece, or their standards are different than mine. Inner Wish is certainly not all that special and the whole album sounds somehow familiar with the worst parts being the opening of “Set Me Free” and the melody of the title track which is completely stolen from Queensrÿche.
Inner Wish play melodic metal in the style of Jag Panzer and the aforementioned Queensrÿche. | |
It’s all pretty decent with an okay production, but it’s hard to discover any personal identity in the music. Furthermore, I’m not a big fan of the vocals either. At times they sound terribly twisted, and lack power.
If you dig old school melodic metal and you don’t care too much about originality, you might want to check out Silent Faces. Otherwise I’d stay away from this redundant release. A few decent songs can’t convince me that Inner Wish is the new metal sensation from Greece.
