There was a time when we used to call albums made by bands like The Copperpot Journals, alternative rock. These days we call everything slightly off beat, emo. Now, I’m not much of a curser but let’s fucking find a new goddamn term to describe music we can’t categorize or just call it alternative rock.
Anyway, that being said, TCJ are answering Cave In’s transatlantic call to musical friendship. Pilots gives you haunting melodies that work like oil and war. And just like Biffy Clyro they wrap it all up in effective, multi layered beauty with new ideas, lingering atmospheres and creative stings in each verse and chorus, if there even is a chorus. | |
After one spin of Pilots in your player you’ll be haunted by questions and an undying desire to play the album over and over again. And those albums will in the end be the pride of your collection.
Silences are truly silences and explosions truly explode on Pilots, without ever indulging in extremes. The band found just the right balance here turning Pilots into a must have for all fans of slightly off beat alternative rock that reminds of Cave In, Rival Schools and Biffy Clyro. (Marc) |
