BEFORE THE DAWN

4:17 Am
10 tracks - playing time: 46:57 min.
Locomotive Records
Rating: 7/10

This is the second full-length album from Before The Dawn (formed in 1999), and what it offers is 10 tracks of dark metal + some gothic touches. Not my piece of cake really - I find bands like that kind of predictable in general, and this Finnish outfit is not an exception, despite the fact that the guys have obviously given a lot of themselves! Anyways, every musical genre has its own connoisseurs / admirers, so I’m going to try to be as impartial and objective as possible.

.. Like I mentioned above, Before The Dawn seem to have worked really hard on "4:17 Am" - all the songs on the CD are simply faultless in construction, and some magnetism atmosphere-wise is not missing either: I believe most To/Die/For, HIM or today’s Katatonia fans will appreciate this all! The album itself is recorded at the Sindicoop Studios and is then mixed at the famous Finnvox Studios so, as you can guess, the production is kosher as well.
