When the cd kicks in after an intro inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche (What does not kill me, makes me stronger), you almost start to think this is a new edition of Slaughter Of The Soul from legendary Swedish metallers At The Gates.

That changed after hearing the vocals. His ‘screams’ are hardcore-a-like and he combines that with some Power Metal sounding lines. That makes this cd interesting. The funny thing is: I hate power metal, but his voice does not really annoy me, cause of the cool sounding riffs (‘Longing for Sorrow’, ‘Old World Disorder’).
According to the bio, this is the perfect crossover between Swedish Death/Trash and Us Power Metal. And I’m pretty fine with that. It is exactly somewhere in between, and it works out well! Catchy agressive riffs with some ‘Thrashy’ drum patterns and a singer that has an interesting voice although just maybe it takes some time to get used to it.

This is the debut album of Silent Scythe, they recorded it for the second time, because they had more time and money now. Good Choice. The artwork is pretty melancholich which fits the title of the album: `Suffer in Silence’. The production is of a high standard. It sounds like they paid some extra attention to the drums, and that is only in their advantage. The production reminds me of a mix between Devin Townsend and Andy Sneap. That says enough.
A perfect metal cd from New Aeon Media who brought us Ribspreader and Final Dawn a month ago. Those were pretty OK CD’s, and this one earns the ‘cool’ status.
