After having released 3 demos (in 1999, 2000 and 2001 respectively), Stormrider now come up with their full-length debut the release date of which (May 31) coincided with the very day when I got my promo copy from REZ! I don`t know if The Stormriders organized a release party that night, but in case they went for this eventually, I bet that a lot of fans awakened with stiffened necks the morning after!
What this band from Sweden offers is 12 tracks of utterly relentless death / black metal meant for sweeping you away with performances evenly adroit as vehement! And this combined with the dense sound of the album itself appears to be quite enough for you to imagine how it feels when a 3000 horsemen cavalry is galloping right towards you!
Evilness and havoc stream from every single guitar riff and drum hit, and if you prone to be a faint-hearted person, you better hide in a bunker! What I can write for "First Battle Won" in addition is that the whole material is recorded at the Abyss Studios with the assistance of Tommy Tagtgren (also known for his work with Dark Funeral, Marduk, Hypocrisy, etc), and the CD itself goes with a 13th videotrack as a bonus, namely "Completely Dead (FTW)". | | (Vanya) |
