Another ’from the vaults’ release by the Psychedoomelic label. This time it’s the German doomsters Voodooshock with four songs recorded in 2000 and two songs from 2002. They state St. Vitus and other bands with guitarist/singer Wino as their main influence. But Black Sabbath is about as important an influence as the legendary Wino.

Down tuned guitars and dark riffs are the main ingredients. Singer Uwe Groebel is in good shape. I’m not a fan of his vocals but he’s relaxed, especially on the 2000 recordings. The dry, down to earth production still sounds pretty good. Voodoom might not be stunning but it sure is a nice addition to any doom collection.
