Pyramaze are a new band from Denmark formed around guitarist Micheal Kammeyer. He found some band mates and they start rehearsing. One of them, Jonah Weingarten, was found on internet and he comes from the United States.
The music they play is progressive metal, Pyramaze make it sound good. There is a lot of energy in this album and next to the energy there are some great guitar solos and good drums.
Lance King (Balance of Power, Defyance) is responsible for the vocals on “Melancholy Beast”. He did this job very well; the guy shows some climaxes in almost every number. Number three, “Melancholy beast”, of this album has got some nice brutal backing vocals. I think it sounds like the beast where the name of this album from is. | |
On the cover of the CD you can see the ‘beast’; the beast is burning and looks a bit like a robot. He has got a burned-out skeleton in his hand and it seems the beast is going to cry. The drawing is really beautiful, my question now is: are the lyrics about this beast? And who is supposed to be the beast?. Who can tell me?
“Melancholy Beast” is also a good produced album. The album is produced by Jacob Hansen (Invocater), after hearing a couple of raw MP3’s he decided to produce this album.
Pyramaze really delivered a good debut with Melancholy Beast and if you are really into bands like Iced Earth and Kamelot this is a band you have to keep in mind when your are walking into a record store. (Jeroen) |
