What can be said about F&J that has not been said before. Founded in the early days of the bay area trash they never managed to step out of the shadow of the big bands of those days. But it did not stop them to make new albums throughout the years. "My God " is their 8th record since 1986 and I was curious if they had overcome the productional flaws of the last 2 albums. Those sounded to flat and powerless. The first song "Dig Me Up To Bury Me" straighten things out right away. | |
A very heavy song with great riffing and busy, innovative solo`s and the production is clear and powerful. Add an acellerating Erik A.K. which sounds as strong as ever and you have one of the best songs of F&J. The rest of the songs are more or less in the same category except the last instrumental one which is a bit lame and sleep inducing. But hey, one songs can not spoil an otherwise great album.
