Before I put the debut album of this young Brazilian band in my player I decided to read the accompanying info sheet. I’m sorry I did. Statements like: “We try to activate memories and feelings through sound, which makes our song a paining with colours and contrasts” simply makes me want to throw up and the remark that the album features “63 minutes of a premonition’s sound track, bringing to surface moments of doubt, remorse and struggling feelings” seems to be just a little bit pretentious. My enthusiasm to listen to this album seriously declined after reading all the aforementioned crap. My enthusiasm came back very quickly though! The music on “Just The Two Of Us .

.. Me And Them” is an impressive combination of metal, progressive rock and mind blowing experiment. I’ve listened to bands that attempted the same combination before, but none are as successful as these Brazilians. At some times the band reminds a bit of late Dream Theater, but the use of experimental sounds and the prominent role of keyboards and piano gives Mindflow an even more profound sound. A huge effort from Mindflow is that the complexity of the music is no obstruction to write real songs, and the way in which these songs are melted into one album. “Just The Two Of Us ... Me And Them” is expressive rock of a very high level. This album is highly recommended.
