Cea Serin (pronounced as See-Sir-In) started out in 1997. I really never heard of the band. But after a bit of research I found out that the band exists of core members J. Lamm and Keith Warman and live guitarist Forrest Osterman. Prior to … Where Memories Combine… the band released two demos and insiders predicted the band a great future. The first time I listened to the album, I disagreed with the so called insiders. It’s a little bit of Pain Of Salvation, a little bit of Evergrey and a little bit of Dream Theater. In my opinion not very original. But the day after the first listening session I played the album again and when it was finished I played it again. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. This is typically one of those albums you’ve got to listen to a couple of times before it really gets a hold of you.

And trust me, it will. Complex song writing and sometimes emotional lyrics (“Into TheVivid Cherishing” is about the deceased mother of Lamm’s wife) are combined with progressive metal with Swedish death metal influences. Lamm uses his voice in a very original way. He sometimes uses a hellish scream, but most of the time he really sings. The latter is pretty normal with progressive music, but the screams add just a little bit more. Looking back on this album and having listened to it a couple of times, I really like this album. Actually, I like it a lot. Not only progressive metal fans will like this album, any self-respecting metal fan will like this album.
