After two EP’s Morning Star is the first album by Frezno Falls a Dutch pop / rock band from The Hague, Netherlands. The production of the album was done by the underground producer Corno Zwetsloot. The sound is clear but edgy, and suits the music perfectly. At some points on the album, the guitars are a little bit too dominant over the vocals. There’s no clear reason for this because the vocals of Leo Gstrein are well worth listening to. The dominance of the guitars in the music is more easily explained since the history of composer and singer Gstrein lies in acoustic singer-song writing; comparison to a band like Coldplay is inevitable. The guitars are the absolute basis of the songs that are enlivened by slightly experimental sounds.

The biggest fear I have concerning Coldplaydish bands is boredom. To prevent this, Frezno Falls, mixed the melodic and up-tempo songs with more spherical and emotional tracks. This arrangement of the track list makes the album a little bit predictable, but also quite dynamic. Highlights on the album are the extraordinary compelling title track and the powerful simplicity of some of the songs. Most tracks however are just above average, despite the opening track there are no real weak tracks on the disc so I’d rate it 7 out of the possible 10 points.
