The other band of Choke from Slapshot. A CD full of hardcore-fueled anthems.
I was curious what this album was going to sound like. `Cause you can say bout Slapshot what you want, but they deserve some respect `cause of what they’ve reached in the HC scene.
Choke decided it was time to do something different. Not the fast hardcore what Slapshot is about, but hardcore that is influenced by oi and punk. The thing that both bands have, are the singalongs, however in a different shape.
The first song ‘One Man Army’ reminds me of Dutch oi pioneers Discipline. A raw sound, a voice that is drenched in Whiskey and a hooligan atmosphere. | |
That last element is all over this record. A perfect record to put on if you’re going to visit a football match with an baseball bat and some bracers. I personally dislike the violence in footballmatches, but if you listen to this CD, it almost getting somewhat romantic.
It’s a simple record. But efficient. ‘Running For Your Life’, ‘Hang On’(best song) and ‘Garden Goons’ are some of my favourites. I personally prefer an old school record, but Stars And Stripes will have some more spins this month. It is an perfect cd for a summer evening. Good Work!
