2 years ago, an EP came out from a young band in the United States: Otep. This EP was full of dramatic death/nu metal with female vocals, a fact (unfortunately) wich gives bands more attention than they deserve ( e.g. kittie, Donnas). Some sort of positive discrimination.

With Otep it was a little different. There were real songs and a theatrical performance by vocalist Otep (an anagram of Poet). A few months after the EP there was a full length called ‘Sevas tra’(art saves, ow ingenious). Another cd full of death/nu metal, raps and (sometimes) impressive grunts from Otep.

It began to disturb me. The interviews with Otep, her performance , it was all a little bit too much theatrical nonsense. Seemingly she sees herself as some kind of new female messiah, whose duty it is to bring poetry back to metal and create some ‘us against the world’ attitude with her fans (army).

Too much quasi-intelligent shizzle.

Ok, back to buisness, House of Secrets. A new CD. I had my doubts, and maybe some preconceptions, but the public were all swept away with the first song ‘Warhead’. Totally brutal death metal. ‘Buried Alive’ is the same. ‘Hoors, and splinters’, ‘autopsy song’; all songs that will demand your attention. In all honesty, this is a good cd.

There aren’t many ‘full ‘songs on this record, but there is a lot of atmos there. This whole cd breathes an anarchistic, dramatic, somewhat depressive overtone that will haunt you and will tie you down to your chair, command you to listen to this record. I did, Many times! I don`t see this cd as 12 songs, but as a whole song. It is not everybody`s cup of tea `cos of the unusual songs, but can I dig it.
