Alright, I wouldn’t say that this outfit from Pennsylvania REALLY shines with anything we haven’t heard before, but at least there are plenty of admirers of bands into the back-to-the-roots thing so, in case you are one of them, I just see no reason why you would skip the "Festering Earth" release! Especially if you’re into Grave or Incantation. In other words, Funeris have forwarded 9 tracks of mid-paced, ponderous death metal with a lot of moroseness inside. Lyric-wise, (as the CD very title probably suggests) things are not different. | |
Only Death is real, and it is Pain and Suffering that sculpture the path leading to Lethe’s shores! Average is the word that I would use as a definition of the "Festering Earth" release, on a whole. What I could add for Funeris in addition is that the band exists since `94, and has so far played live with acts like Zyklon, Grave, Soulless, Serpens Aeon, Acheron, Gospel Of The Horns, etc. (Vanya) |
