I know I don’t have to introduce Doro Pesch because everybody knows this metal goddess. She is not only known for her work with Warlock in the Eighties, but she is also known for her solo projects. After twenty years of hard work she must have thought it was time for something completely different. And something different it is; Doro recorded an album with the Metal Classic Night Orchestra. Your first thought is probably the same as mine; “That it isn’t a very original idea, Frau Pesch”. But, like everything else in her career, she did it her own way.

Classic Diamonds is not what you would expect. Which means it is not the ‘traditional’ metal/rock/classical cooperation. Bands like Metallica and Kiss play their usual heavy music and are accompanied by an orchestra. The songs on Classic Diamonds are completely different in comparison to the originals.

There are no heavy guitars on the album, only acoustic guitars. The only ‘heavy’ parts on the album are the drums.

Classic Diamonds is in my opinion some kind of Best Of…-album. There are 9 old songs, 2 new songs and a cover on the album. Doro chose to perform a semi-acoustic version of” Breaking The Law”, which she did very nice. Only the guest vocals by Udo Dirkschneider do not fit in. The two new songs are nice ballads, and “Let Love Rain On Me” will be released as an EP-single. The other new ballad (“I’m In Love With You”) is just like a regular ballad. The rest of the songs need no explanation, every rock fan knows them. This album is a must-have for the Doro fans, and it’s a nice starting album for new listeners.
