Finally finding the time to review the latest Vital Information CD I started by reading the info leaflet. I probably shouldn’t have, since after reading this very long analysis by Bill Molkowski (a professional reviewer), I could not think of any original comment about Come On In what so ever. Reading this leaflet almost took more time than listening to the CD itself. And in a way reading about this album takes some of the fun of listening away. I don’t care about the brilliant way in which the song “Baton Rouge” is ‘a tune in 5/4 - the drums and bass play 2+3 while the guitar plays 3+2’ and that ‘Frank Gambale is actually using some South Indian Carnatic rhythmic devises’.

What I do care about is the way the music on the album sounds. I for one don’t need two pages to explain to you that Come On In is a jazz and fusion orientated instrumental release well worth listening to. I know that most of you are interested in rock/metal and nothing else but for readers with a somewhat broader taste - a liking of funky grooves and serious swinging - this release has a great feeling and might be one you’d like.
