After reviewing over 150 albums, this might be the first from Switzerland, homeland of Pure Inc. From the first tones of opener “Fear My Eyes” till the final chord of “Falling Season” this second release by the band impresses. O.K. the music is quite mainstream and yes there are some obvious references (Creed for example) but the band has a distinctive sound. One of the greatest efforts is the contrast between the polished instruments and the rough - but very pleasant - vocals of Gianni Pontillio. This contrast is disturbed during the heavier songs like “On The Verge”, (this one will do great live) as well as on the horrible balled “Promise”. I’ll have to forgive them since all other songs are incredible. | |
The album sounds very professional (the mastering was done by Mika Jussila, known from his work with Edguy, Nightwish and Stratovarius), it doesn’t matter whether you play this album softly or very, very loud, the sound remains close to perfect.
Due to the fact that I only got a promo version of the album - with mostly edited short versions - the label has not only prevented availability of the album on the internet before the official release, they also forced me to buy the album myself. On the positive side, “Pure Inc” is money well spend. Pure Inc will be touring Europe with Michael Schenker Group somewhere in October; you can count on me to be there. This is a band I don’t want to miss out on! (Geert) |
