Since 1992 Amon Amarth is known among us metal heads as an underground band, although the status of an underground band doesn’t really apply anymore to these Vikings; Amon Amarth is these days a headliner for big festivals. This is already the sixth album from the Swedes. The Vikings delivered their fifth album also on Metal Blade Records. Fate Of Norns is not really different than the other Amon Amarth albums, if you know their other work then this one will sound very familiar. The voice of Johan Hegg is again great, if you are not familiar with Amon Amarth the vocals are really low and slow.

After a while this album starts to be a little bit boring. Amon Amarth play mid tempo all the time with no changes to the speed of the drums and the guitar solos aren’t that special either. Amon Amarth invented their own sound and that’s a good thing, but they have never changed it, as far as I know, and that’s not a good thing in my opinion. Or then again they have got the strategy: “never change a winning team”. Fate Of Norms is again a good Amon Amarth album, nothing new under the sun but just great Viking metal.
