This remastered Gotthard compilation contains two discs with the very best of the band. The decision was made to fill the first disc with rock songs, and the other disc with ballads. The first disc features 19 tracks and although the CD comes close to eighty minutes, it’s over before you know it. This is catchy rock! I had heard of Gotthard before but never took the time to listen to any of their music. Listening to the first couple of songs nevertheless made me refute my thoughts. I just never knew that famous songs like “Mighty Quinn” and “Mountain Mama” were written by this band. The downside of the decision to put the ballads on disc two is that despite the fact that the larger part of the songs is of the highest quality it’s hard to keep your attention.

You keep longing for that one up-tempo rocker to keep these ballads interesting. Eighty minutes of constant ballads is a little bit too much for my rocking heart. This compilation was clearly meant for people that incidentally have heard of this band. To keep things a little bit interesting for the fans, four new songs and some slightly different versions of old songs were added. One compliment I should make concerns the excellent sound and the nice digi packaging.
