Imagine: Your neighbours have moved. Nothing wrong with that. But no one wants to buy their house. Ok. Cool, you can make more noise without the risk of complaining busybodies. Then, after two years of silence, you hear a band playing in the bathroom (wich is full of dust). That band is probably Today is the day. At least, that’s how the new CD sounds. But Ok, that’s the taste of every person. This is a band where you can use the word controversial. So: They´re controversial.

You either love this band or you hate it. There is no ‘in between’. I didn’t like their last cd, it is just not my taste. I like bands like Converge, All Else Failed etc. (influences you can hear on today is the day CDs) but this is just something weirder. It is more noise, and personally, I was never a fan of noise.

This cd is better than the ‘Sadness will Prevail’ which was too experimental and too many ideas insstead of good songs. This cd does more for me. I hear older converge sounds in songs like ‘Why They Hate Us’ and ‘Don’t Thread On Hope’ (listen to the vocals, but still it’s an uncomfortable feeling, maybe too provocating. A cd which will see your cd player once a year for example.

For relapse fans (and I consider myself one), this cd can be interesting, but like I sead earlier: this is either your band or it isnt. Maybe that`s the weakness and strength of TITD. ??

I once read a Steve Austin interview and his Goal was to be bigger than Slayer. Don´t hold your breath !
