I can be very short about The Power Of Beef. This is an album for angry and somewhat crazy people. This is not an album you enjoy listening to unless your girlfriend decided to kick you out of the house, you just got word you’re fired or you’re utterly drunk. This is mostly due to the commanding, shouting and at sometimes screaming vocals of Michael Savage and the powerful ‘gun shot’ backing vocals inviting you to shout along. The vocals are so dominant and so alike, you actually almost forget about the music which might be a little bit too simplistic, but is not so bad after all.

Some of the pieces on this disc are clearly meant to be funny (the la, la’s in “Madhouse Clown” for example) but if this is your vision of funny, you’ve got one or two loose wires. My main point of criticism is the lack of variation. Every song has exactly the same power, the same amount of anger and the same structure. Listening to this album just is therefore not much fun. If you want to enjoy Pigmy Love Circus, you’re better off going to one of their concerts, these should be fun to watch.
