What’s the matter with bands these days? I’m being overwhelmed with great albums and MCD’s. ‘1-800 Vindication’ by Illdisposed is in that category too. This album grabs you by the balls and crushes them thirty-five minutes long.

This band from Denmark started out in 1992 as a pure death metal band, you know, the kind of death metal band everybody wanted to have in those days. They had a trademark though; Illdisposed was really brutal those days. These days their death metal is more polished and more melodic, but still very brutal. The main reason for the brutality is the deep grunt of Bo Summer. It’s nice to hear that there are some clean vocals hidden on the background of some songs, it’s a good variation and the band didn’t overdo the clean vocals.

Musically ‘1-800 Vindication’ reminds me a bit of the well-known melodic death metal from Sweden, but still the band has an own sound. Bands like early In Flames, Soilwork and newer Arch Enemy come to mind while listening to this album. And I don’t think the aforementioned bands are a bad reference. Perhaps is nice to know that the production was in hands of Danish metal producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Hatesphere), so I can conclude that the production is a-okay.

Looking back at ‘1-800 Vindication’ I have to say it kicks ass. The faster parts are combined with some mid-tempo parts. The production is very good and musically this album can not bore me for one second. Too bad it only lasts 35 minutes.
