Spain has a remarkable history of metal bands, such as Obus, Panzer, Angeles del Infierno and Baron Rojo that made some great albums. And with the new Tierra Santa they can add another quality piece of work. Because there’s one thing most Spanish metal bands have in common, and that’s quality.

I have a flaw for Spanish vocals; somehow the atmosphere is very different from other bands. I don’t speak or read Spanish, so I have full focus on the music. This leaves me with the following: Tierra Santa plays a wide variety of songs on this album, many of which lean towards the sound of the 80s bands I named before. Apocalipsis contains lots of original (but sometimes cheesy) melodies combined with some heavy guitar riffs.

There’s one thing I don’t like much though, on some tracks Tierra Santa uses keyboards in the vein of Van Halen, like on the song “Rumbo A Las Estrellas”. The keyboard elements are inappropriate and do not add to the music.

The only thing this band needs to do is spice things up a little, they’re beginning to lean more and more towards hard rock although they’re more than capable of producing kick ass metal songs such as “Kamikaze”, “El Grito De La Tierra” or “Esta Tierra Es Mia”. I hope they’ll remain the Tierra Santa which produced albums like their first ones and follow the music of the old Spanish heroes!
